Trevor visits the Swan Valley Nursery to showcase herbs that are great for the mind.

  • Rosemary contains a number of phytochemicals, in traditional medicines of India, essential oils and extracts from rosemary are used to treat a variety of disorders. In myths, rosemary has a reputation for improving memory; it is also often used during war commemorations and funerals.
  • Thyme has many medicine uses;acting as an antiseptic in commercially produced mouthwashes such as Listerine. Infusing thyme within a tea can be used for coughs and bronchitis and in the Middle Ages, the herb of thyme was placed under pillows to aid with sleep and ward off nightmares.
  • Gotu Kola, known by some as the Arthritis Herb, is known to help with inflammation. Adding two leaves from this herb to your diet everyday is said to benefit health.
  • Adding Brahmi into tea is believed to assist people with memory and anxiety, it is easy to grow in a pot or in the patio.
