Farmer’s markets are a great place to get all the freshest ingredients for your meals. Russell shows you a simple, fresh, and delicious recipe for Farmer’s Market Breakfast.

Serves 4

Main Ingredients

  • 1 loaf sourdough bread
  • 1 kilo heirloom tomatoes
  • 150gm Bookara goats’ cheese
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Sea salt
  • Fresh ground pepper
  • Optional: fresh herbs (parsley, basil, oregano)
  • Optional: Greek yogurt


  • Heat the oven/grill
  • Slice the bread into 1inch thick slices
  • Rub olive oil onto both sides of the slices
  • Toast or grill the pieces of bread
  • Meanwhile, wash the tomatoes and slice into wedges or discs
  • Remove the toast from the oven/grill and divide amongst plates
  • Distribute the tomatoes and place them atop the toast (try mixing colours!)
  • Finish it off with some fresh goats’ cheese (if you don’t like the taste of goats’ cheese, try cutting through it with a bit of Greek yogurt!)
  • Season with salt & pepper
  • Optional: add herbs to the top
  • Drizzle with olive oil and serve!
