Cassandra learns the unique process behind creating the delicious 2022 Myattsfield Vermentino.
- Way before we had stainless steel tanks and oak barrels, the ancient civilizations used amphoras to ferment grape juice into wine in.
- There are plenty of benefits in using this vessel to make wine, one of which is that it provides micro amounts of oxygen in to develop the wine, and another being that the shape and the heat of the fermenting wine facilitates and natural movement of the liquid inside.
- This Vermentino wine uses a concrete egg to produce the wine, and what we get is all the freshness that you’d expect from the grape variety, but with additional complexity from the concrete egg.
- It’s a great variety for our WA climate, and one you should seek out.
